Cinema Not Leaving
The Edenus Grand Theatre has been showing movies for generations, and despite the arrival of larger modern cinemas across Havenfall, the old theater continues to attract residents.
Its faded red seats, narrow hallways and enormous old-fashioned marquee have become part of the district's character.
The theater recently celebrated another year in operation by bringing back several older films for a week-long screening event.
The response surprised even the staff.
"We thought maybe twenty people would show up," one employee said. "We ended up turning people away."
Much of the audience consisted of teenagers who had never seen some of the films on a cinema screen before.
Older residents, meanwhile, seemed more interested in remembering the theater from their younger years.
"My first date was here," one Edenus resident said. "I'm not telling you how long ago that was."
The theater has no plans to compete with Havenfall's newer entertainment complexes.
Instead, management says it intends to keep doing what it has always done: showing movies and keeping the doors open.
And judging by the crowds, Edenus residents aren't ready to let the old cinema disappear just yet.
