EAT FOR THE 2 OF US

It was dark, even though it was still daytime.

Heavy storm clouds had gathered above Ravenport, swallowing the sky and draping the city beneath a blanket of rain.

She was alone in her room, as always.
But today was different.
Today, it was raining.

She had already wrapped herself in a warm blanket, settling comfortably on her bed. Her room had a large glass sliding door that looked out onto the world beyond, letting her watch every drop race down the glass without leaving the comfort of her bed.

The steady rhythm of the rain was enough to make her smile.

Then her phone buzzed.
Zeke: Hey.
Seeing his message on a day like this made her heart feel warmer than the blanket around her.
Her: Hii.

Zeke: How are ya?

She could almost picture him smiling behind those cold, unreadable eyes.

Her: I'm fine. Anyway, how's your day going so far?

She pulled the blanket tighter around herself, imagining that instead of fabric, it was Zeke's arms wrapped around her.

Zeke: It's alright. I like it. Yours?

Her: Pretty good. Did you eat?

Zeke: Yeah, I did. I'll be eating again sooo... like, very soooon. What about you, Night Chef?

She couldn't help smiling.
Her: When is "soon?"

Zeke: Geez... no need to be so strict.

Her: I'm not strict.

Zeke: So... did you eat?

She stared at the screen before typing back.

Her: Hehehehe.

Zeke: Hmm?

Her: Well... no... I didn't.

Zeke: Why?

Her: I have no idea. I think I just forgot. Though... I did have Coke, so I don't really feel hungry.

There was a pause.

Zeke: ...I don't even know what to say.

She smiled softly.

Her: It's okay. I know. I promise I'll eat... food.

Zeke: Yeah. You'll eat now, though.

She blinked.

Her: Huh...? Now? But I'm not hungry.

Zeke: Well, I'm hungry... so eat for both of us.

"..."
She fell silent.
Punching her pillow once, she muttered to herself,
"What the fuck..."
She picked her phone back up.
Her: Ehhh... I'll go eat. But you better eat too.

Zeke: GO EAT NOW.

She buried her face into her blanket, blushing.

Her: Hehehe... I'm blushing just imagining you saying that out loud while looking all irritated.

Zeke: That's something I'd actually do.

Her: Hehehehe... I know. That's what makes imagining it even better.

Zeke: You're supposed to be eating right now.

She was still lying in bed.
Squinting mischievously, she looked around the room before replying.
Her: Oh... that. Yes, yes, I remember now. Proof?

Zeke: Yeah. Obviously.

She laughed.

Her: Yes, sir!

Jumping off the bed, she hurried into the kitchen, grabbed some leftovers from yesterday, warmed them up, snapped a quick picture, and sent it to him.
A few seconds later...

Zeke: Well, that's great. You better eat.

She looked down at the food with a small smile before replying.

Her: I'm eating, love.

Zeke: Yeah, yeah... and you'll eat again later. I'll ask about it.
